Talon Anchor

One possible entry a day from the first 15-minute range.

  1. 01The problemIt is hard to trust a chart tool when you cannot see its rule.
  2. 02Why it mattersIf the stop, the target and the size are hidden, you cannot tell what a backtest was really testing.
  3. 03What Talon Anchor doesTalon Anchor draws one rule on your chart: the range, the entry, the stop and the target. It runs a backtest on your own chart, so you can check it yourself.

The idea

How Talon Anchor works

  1. MeasureFirst 15 minutes after midnight Chicago (one 15-minute candle).
  2. WaitA later 15-minute candle closes outside the range.
  3. ShowAn entry, a stop and a target.

Before you apply

You need your own TradingView account and an MNQ chart. TradingView plans and market data are separate from this membership.

Why it helps

What Talon Anchor gives you

Feature

Draws the first 15-minute range, then an entry, stop and target for its backtest on your chart. Monday long only; Tuesday to Friday either direction.

Advantage

The stop is never moved. The target is smaller than the stop, so a win is smaller than a loss.

Benefit

The rule is plain enough to read in a minute and check on your own chart. You see the losses as well as the wins.

Settings

Sizing you can see and change

Two settings set the size of a trade. The member setup guide lists every input.

SettingDefaultWhat it does
01 Planned risk 600 USD How much one trade plans to risk, and so how large it is. A sizing setting, not a loss limit.
02 Max contracts 2 The most contracts one trade can use.

Through the day

When Talon Anchor can draw an entry

One Chicago day. The bar shows when the rules allow an entry, not how often one happens.

Illustration

Talon Anchor 15-minute chart. Range 12:00 AM to 12:15 AM Chicago time. 1 trade a day at most.

  • Range is measured
  • An entry can happen, on a candle that closes outside the range
  • Flat window, 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM New York time: an open trade is closed. No new Anchor entries until the candle that closes at 7:15 PM New York time.
  • No entries
Chicago time, with New York time under it. Talon Anchor can enter from the end of the range until 3:00 PM Chicago time and again from 6:00 PM to midnight Chicago time; evening entries still use that same Chicago day's range. On Monday it is long only. No entries on Saturday or Sunday. This shows when the rules allow an entry, not how often one happens.

Markers show the backtest's entries and exits. The info panel on the chart labels its figures BACKTEST. Its values are left blank here.

What Talon Anchor does not do

  • It places no orders.
  • It connects to no broker.
  • It gives no trade calls.
  • It does not cap your losses. Planned risk is a sizing setting, not a loss limit.
  • It does not show real fills. Simulated fills can differ from real fills, and chart marks can change while a candle forms.
  • It does not handle contract expiry, so use the continuous MNQ1! chart.
  • A trade still open after midnight Chicago can use up the next day's one trade.
