Talon Crest 45s

A 45-second chart tool for breakouts of the first 15-minute range.

Illustration of a 15-minute opening range made of many 45-second candles and a later entry with a stop and target.
Illustration with synthetic candles, not market data and not a result. The range lines explain the rule; the script does not draw them.
  1. 01The problemA 15-minute candle hides what happened inside the range.
  2. 02Why it mattersWithout the smaller candles, you cannot see how the range formed or how a move out of it played out.
  3. 03What Talon Crest 45s doesTalon Crest 45s watches the same 15-minute range on a 45-second chart. It draws the entry, the stop and the target on your chart and runs a backtest on your own chart.

The idea

How Talon Crest 45s works

  1. MeasureFirst 15 minutes after midnight Chicago, as 20 complete 45-second candles. If the range is incomplete there is no trade that day.
  2. WaitA later 45-second candle closes outside the range, before 3:00 PM Chicago time.
  3. ShowAn entry, a stop and a target.

Before you apply

Check that your TradingView plan supports 45-second charts. TradingView plans are separate from this membership. Seconds-based charts load less history than minute charts, so your own test range may be shorter.

Why it helps

What Talon Crest 45s gives you

Feature

Builds the range from 20 complete 45-second candles, then draws an entry, stop and target for its backtest on your chart. Monday to Friday, either direction.

Advantage

The stop can trail once a trade is in profit by half the stop distance. After the first trade closes, one more is possible that day in the opposite direction.

Benefit

You can see how the range formed from smaller candles, and check the rule on your own chart. If the range is incomplete there is no trade that day.

Settings

Sizing you can see and change

Two settings set the size of a trade. The member setup guide lists every input.

SettingDefaultWhat it does
01 Planned risk 600 USD How much one trade plans to risk, and so how large it is. A sizing setting, not a loss limit.
02 Max contracts 2 The most contracts one trade can use.

Through the day

When Talon Crest 45s can draw an entry

One Chicago day. The bar shows when the rules allow an entry, not how often one happens.

Illustration

Talon Crest 45s 45-second chart. Range 12:00 AM to 12:15 AM Chicago time, or no trade that day. 2 trades a day at most.

  • Range is measured
  • An entry can happen, on a candle that closes outside the range
  • Flat window, 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM New York time: an open trade is closed. No new entry.
  • No entries
Chicago time, with New York time under it. Talon Crest 45s can enter from the end of the range until 3:00 PM Chicago time and takes no entry after that. No entries on Saturday or Sunday. This shows when the rules allow an entry, not how often one happens.

On your chart

See the rule in action

Markers show the backtest's entries and exits. A small panel on the chart marks its figures as simulated.

What Talon Crest 45s does not do

  • It places no orders.
  • It connects to no broker.
  • It gives no trade calls.
  • It does not cap your losses. Planned risk is a sizing setting, not a loss limit.
  • It does not show real fills. Simulated fills can differ from real fills, and chart marks can change while a candle forms.
  • It does not handle contract expiry, so use the continuous MNQ1! chart.
